TSN Translation Project
Are you fluent in a language other than English? Do you feel connected to TSN articles? Maybe we can work together.
Help me bring popular Think Simple Now articles to your native language, and spread inspirational messages to people who cannot read English, or prefer to read in languages other than English.
I’m not (necessarily) looking for professional translators. I’m looking for readers who “get” the message behind the words, and can convert the message in their mother tongue. In a way, you’re re-writing in your words, and we become co-authors.
I’m looking for good fits, people who can translate some of our literacy ideas to other languages eloquently. It’s more than just translating word-for-word, as sometimes English slang can’t be translated directly.
Currently, I am looking for two types of roles:
- Translator – re-writing our English articles into another language. I am looking for several people per language.
- Proof Reader – help the successful translator proof read their translations before publication
- Reviewers – help me review the translator’s applications. The translators will submit sample translates, help me score how well they did. Are their writing styles a good representation of the original message? Would you like to see more from this translator?
If you don’t want to translate, but want to be apart of the project, then become a reviewer, and decide the future of Think Simple Now for your language.
The languages I am currently reviewing: French, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese (simplified), Korean, Indonesian.
I am open to other languages, these are based on submissions I’ve already received.
How to Apply?
Email me tina [at] thinksimplenow.com with the subject “Translation Project: <role> : <language>” and include the following role specific details.
For example, if you are applying for Translator to Italian, the subject will read “Translation Project: Translator : Italian”.
1. Translator
If you’re applying for translator, I will automatically put you in for proof reader and reviewer role as well.
Please include the following translator tests in a word doc with your application:

2. Proof Reader
Please include your experience with English and the language you’re interested to proof read for.
3. Reviewer
Please include a brief summary of your experience with English and the language you like to help screen translators for. The only qualification for a reviewer is someone who likes our articles, and are fluent in both English and your language of choice.

Successful translators will be notified within several weeks of submission by email. I will not be able to respond to all emails.

Q. What is the expected time frame to submit sample translations?
A: within a week or two from today.
Q. Will I get paid?
A: For proof reader and reviewer, it is a volunteer position. Your names will be listed in the bio/about page for the respective sites. For translators, there will be a nominal compensation via revenue sharing for the pages they translate. Details will be discussed via email to successful translators.
